Wichita Big Screen’s HorrorFest: Update

Hello, Boils and Ghouls! We’ve reached mid-October and that means there are only a few weeks left until you take your kids to the dentist to discover all the new cavities that Halloween candy inflicted. More importantly, and perhaps sadly, it means Wichita Big Screen’s HorrorFest is half-way over.

The first showing of this year’s HorrorFest began with two days of Bruce Campbell as the chainsaw wielding, boomstick shooting, Deadite killing, slap-stick hero we all know and love in Sam Raimi’s  Evil Dead 2 (1987).  The first showing almost sold-out, and it was a riot to once again see Ash splatter demon guts across the big screen.

The 8th and 9th brought Hell to the Regal Old Town Warren and pain-seekers to the seats. The theatre was filled with Wichita horror fans looking to see what sights Pinhead had to show them. Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II played as a double feature both Monday and Tuesday. Wow, we forgot just how sick and twisted the mind of Clive Barker is. If you’re not familiar with this franchise, beware, it is not for the faint of heart. Barker’s bloody hooks and chains showed that their practical effect skills were top notch.

For all of you looking to keep the Halloween spirit alive, there are still 5 classic spooky films left at HorrorFest!

Thank you to everyone who has made it out to the showings so far and a special thanks to those of you who donated your hard-earned cash to keep this Wichita Halloween tradition alive. Don’t forget, we will have a booth set up at every showing alongside HorrorFest organizer Leif Jonker selling HorrorFest merch and t-shirts for $15. We also have a few shirts from last year remaining for just $5. Stop by, say “hello”, and stay spooky my friends.
